WSJ, $4.50 for a cup?! Where do you get such high prices? $3 a cup is max at almost any regular place.

I expect the Journal to be able to use "myriad" correctly. I guess the NYU communications program doesn't cover usage and grammar.

The increase of coffee price can make it feasible and economic for countries which were coffee importers to grow and make their own coffee.

Just get your own bean to cup. Over long run it'll pay off

To be honest, people are relying on coffee, which is already a sick phenomenon. Sometimes when we do not need coffee in our morning, we still rely on them. No, actually we do not. I think the first step is to decoffee in our life. Not only coffee is expensive nowdays, it also causes headche.

Bob Fryer May 3, 2021 - 10:57 AM

D May 3, 2021 - 11:02 AM

i dont buy coffee (except maybe during emergencies) I brew my own and I also do not simply visit expensive cafe for instawhores … I go where my tastebuds tells me it's the best so it could be anywhere from a stall beside a dirty drain or an upclass hotel, most of the time I just make my own.

Robusta coffee tastes better and has a higher caffeine kick. I wish more coffee was 100% Robusta instead of this hybrid robusta/arabica or heaven forbid solely arabica coffee blends we currently have

1p6t1gms May 3, 2021 - 3:09 PM

They are full of beans here.

borzycrn May 3, 2021 - 4:36 PM

The price of green beans have very little to do with the price of your $4.50 latte. That price is high due to local factors, wages, marketing mostly. The green beans are between 1-2$ per pound. Let than 10% of the latte price. Even if they double it's maybe 20 cents.

Look at all this effort not to address the gigantic, trumpeting elephant in the room: Inflation. The USD is doomed.

Don’t forget the move to “ethically sourced” and “sustainable” coffee which drivers up overhead costs for the entire supply chains. It hurts everyone but the middle class, white, treeshagging westerners.

suyash jaiswal May 3, 2021 - 7:36 PM

As someone never drinks coffee or tea its wild how unconciously people develop their caffeine dependency and cant go a day without it. It's literally an addiction

The Gospel Messenger May 3, 2021 - 9:39 PM

The gospel by which we're SAVED. We're under Paul's ministry today. Therefore we're not under the law of the old testament. 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 (KJV)(1) Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the GOSPEL (good news) which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; (2) By which also ye are SAVED, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain (self). (3) For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that CHRIST DIED for our SINS according to the scriptures; (4) And that he was BURIED, and that he ROSE AGAIN the THIRD DAY according to the scriptures.

And that takes us back to John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that WHOSOEVER BELIEVETH in him should NOT PERISH, but have EVERLASTING LIFE. Ephesians 2:8-9 (KJV) (8) For by GRACE are ye SAVED through FAITH; and that NOT of yourselves: it is the GIFT of GOD: (9) NOT of works, lest any man should boast. So it's only by GRACE that we are SAVED not by works. JESUS did all the work and gave us GRACE (unmerited favor) as long as we have FAITH (believe) in the DEATH, BURIAL, and RESURRECTION of Jesus Christ for SALVATION (trust in his BLOOD ATONEMENT). That's the gospel. JESUS said, Ye must be BORN AGAIN to enter into the kingdom.(accept Jesus as your SAVIOUR)

READ, UNDERSTAND, BELIEVE (from the heart by FAITH) and be SAVED
