'You had better ask a woman that': Alan Jones quizzed over 'problem with women'

Sydney broadcaster Alan Jones has been interviewed by Channel Nine after a string of major advertisers deserted his breakfast radio program over comments he made about the New Zealand prime minister, Jacinda Ardern. The comments, including that Ardern should be ‘backhanded’, were condemned as dangerously misogynistic by women’s groups and prompted criticism from the Australian PM, Scott Morrison. Ardern has so far refused to comment directly on the controversy but did engage in some mild sledging saying: ‘[Jones] used to be closely linked to the Wallabies. Let’s just say that I think revenge is best served through a Bledisloe Cup’.

Is the word 'women' misogynistic now?
I'm sure we could find plenty of guardian columnists that have been critical of other women leaders, Theresa May for example…

Shocking hate-filled outburst. This is not some troll on Facebook. Nobody in his position should be allowed to broadcast such slurs. When people protest, he'll say he didn't mean it.

Not to worry. The way Jacinda Ardern has been running NZ lately, him and any other political undesirables will be censored and/or prosecuted for their thought crimes soon enough.

Nothing in that apart from the 'backhand' comment can really be taken as sexist here. Even that comment isn't necessarily misogynistic, it depends how he meant it…

Sounds like an angry old man. Well he can go to his grave angry; women are going to continue to be in power, people he doesn't like will continue to have a voice, and no one's going to stop talking about climate change.

It's funny all the MRAs/MGTOWs cheering this guy and his comments on; if a woman had said this they'd all be flipping their lid.

Right, Ardern has surrounded herself with sycophants and flatterers in the media that any criticism of her government is now a hate crime. Ardern is doing everything she can to ruin New Zealand and we can't speak out.
