Three astronauts reached the International Space Station on Wednesday using a fast-track maneuver for the first time to reach the orbiting outpost in just three hours.
The astronauts, NASA’s Kate Rubins along with Russian space agency Roscosmos’ Sergey Ryzhikov and Sergey Kud-Sverchkov, lifted off from the Baikonur space launch facility in Kazakhstan.
The astronauts used a two-orbit approach and were able to dock with the space station in half the time it normally takes to reach the station. The team will stay on the station for six months.
