General practitioners, who usually are the first person a patient turns to, needs more training on treating someone with mental health issues. Throwing a variety of meds at the problem from the get go is ill advised. My dr. did this and before I knew it I was prescribed a multitude of meds. I eventually said enough was enough. I'm self treating myself now through a variety of means with better results. Do your research.
