Taiwan won't bow to China pressure, leader says – BBC News

by Moin Uddin Ahmed Tipu

Taiwan will not bow to pressure from China and will defend its democratic way of life, President Tsai Ing-wen has said in a defiant speech amid heightened tensions over the island.

Her remarks on Taiwan’s National Day came after China’s President Xi Jinping vowed to “fulfil reunification”.

China denounced Ms Tsai’s speech, saying it “incited confrontation”.

There is one thing ; the most shameless policy in Taiwan is which our president belongs. All what they claimed were just prepared for the elections; the law in our country have become one of the tools to let them occupy either the every position in government departments or state-operated business, and how do they make it? They would fire any person who has a different opinion that would against them and cause harm to their benefits.Their are too much others that I couldn't well describe in my poor english, but all of foreign netizens like you could only see what our government want to present. I am just a senior high student in Taiwan but I sincerely hope you guys could think about is everything really seems to be like what you have seen? Is Taiwanese's president Tsai Ing-wen and her team really care about our daily life? The commodity prices and real estates which have risen rapidly, however our dear governments didn't plan to controll it.There are devoting to every elections;do you guys know how nauseous did they do? Maybe there are some mistakes I've made in this paragraph but these are another aspects people in Taiwan faced everyday. This doesn't means I agreed what Xi Jinping said. I really support democracy and treasure my daily life which is fulled of freedom, however president Tsai Ing-wen's statements and actions let many people feel angry but ther is few way to let foreign media or foreigners aware of this situation.I know that my words may be ignored eventually, but when you guys readong the news please think about morer aspects. All in all, briefly,Tsai Ing-wen and our governments give us a feeling that they are just fighting for benefits for themselves but not democracy toward people in Taiwan.

So glad to see someone stand up to this bully. I'm sick and tired of countries that think it's their right to invade, control and destroy any country they want if it suits their short term purposes.
Imagine a world without empires.

The ruling party of Taiwan is comprised of Japanese descendants. Instead of annexing Taiwan to Japan why would the Japanese allow Taiwan to return to China?

Hong Kong is the clearest example of what China would do to Taiwan if they could easily get away with doing it. The 1 country 2 systems concept was the biggest farce. Hong Kong was crushed into early submission under the boot heel of the CCP authoritarians while the world looked on, China didn’t even wait long to move in on Hong Kong, despite the agreements they had signed. Taiwan is smart to learn from what happened to Hong Kong.
