Special report: Drug deaths across the UK are on rise again

by News Update

The government has been accused by one of its own drugs advisers of not caring about the growing number of heroin addicts dying from an overdose.

It comes as drug support charities warn users that synthetic opioids, such as fentanyl, are being used to bulk out the drug, making it even more dangerous.

Sky’s Ashish Joshi has spoken to heroin users and former addicts, who say they’re seeing more of their friends die than ever before.

It's well documented…. when the population is being suppressed by government policies.. i.e cost of living people turn to alcohol and drugs in a hope of escaping the realities of life….
Well done tory government

When times are tough, people turn to addiction, I wouldn't be surprised if alcohol related deaths are increasing as well.

This is horrible. They are losing customers. It will hurt the economy.

Portugal decriminalised possession years ago and the amount of drug takers has dropped dramatically because they have programs and stuff to help people with addictions.

What a waste of life, they could be sent to Afghanistan to fight against Taliban and destroyed puppy farms there instead they are dying in the streets of uk and apparently no one knows where the drug is coming from.!? Sad

master roshi August 3, 2022 - 5:45 PM

i have no sympathy on people dying on drugs, they can afford to buy drugs, in my country we die of hunger.

Pei Liang Teong August 3, 2022 - 5:51 PM

Should anyone care?

David Getling August 3, 2022 - 5:56 PM

I only wish a lot more druggies would die, and do so quickly. It would reduce crime and the wasting of very limited resources on those who don't deserve them.

Why not decriminalize drug use instead of arresting people for being addicts, it's worked well in Portugal and Switzerland
