Southern California wildfires continue to rage

The utility which supplies electricity to 15 million residents of Southern California is investigating whether one of its power lines sparked a massive wildfire that has led to the evacuation of some 100,000 people from their homes. Southern California Edison was on the defensive on Tuesday after it pulled the plug on just 30 customers to prevent power lines and other electric equipment from sparking a blaze. That is a far cry from the 1 million people who had power cut by Pacific Gas & Electric Co., the main utility in Northern California, as the state grappled with extreme wildfire conditions exacerbated by hurricane-level winds.
