NSW bushfire-affected town pay for own fireproofing projects while they wait for funding | The Drum

Last summer’s bushfire season arrived after the hottest, driest year on record.

By almost every metric – the intensity, the area burned, and the number of properties lost – these fires were the worst record for new south wales.

And Cobargo, on the New South Wales South Coast was one of the hardest hit. The town sits in the Bega Valley and this year, their bushfire season has already started.

Ruby Cornish, was in Cobargo in January, soon after the fires hit. Now she’s been back, to find out how the recovery is going.
