No 10 apologises to Queen over lockdown parties on eve of Prince Philip’s funeral

by News Update

This is not so much party politics but the politics of parties as Downing Street was forced to apologise to Buckingham Palace for the two parties held at Number 10 on the eve of Prince Philip’s funeral – saying it was “deeply regrettable that this took place at a time of national mourning”.

Since then the apologies have come thick and fast: one from PM’s former communications chief James Slack over his leaving do. He now works at the Sun newspaper. While Kate Josephs – who was head of the government’s Covid taskforce – said she was “truly sorry” for drinks held in December 2020.

No word yet from Mr Johnson himself, who is supposed to be self-isolating from a family case of Covid in his Downing Street flat.

You don't have to be a Royalist to recognise the degree of insult and betrayal this is. We don't need the Russians, Chinese or the EU to destroy the UK – as they claim – when we are busy voting in these b******s to rule over us.

Gullible voters still won't realise that this is what the Tories essentially are, through and through selfish and greedy, and will still vote for them thinking the represent the 'better' class among us. Pah-leeze!

He's delivered Brexit? Well, yes, the lory queues and the empty shelves are there to proove it. He's rolled out the vaccination plan? As every other western European country, wouldn't you say? And by the way, even poor little Portugal did a better job in the end. That must hurt…

They should face it head on "we work closely together, it's essential in order to run the country during a crisis, and to help morale and mental health we needed moments of decompression to release so we could maintain the fight against Covid, support the vaccine research, remember there are no vaccines at this time, and to make sure Britain was at the front of the queue for vaccines. I'm sure you remember the Europeans being late to securing vaccines, whereas we are not. Another win for Brexit, which we also delivered."

If I remember correctly it was a £10,000 fine for breaking covid rules, all those who attended should pay for every party they attended

cupguin January 15, 2022 - 2:23 AM

Didn't he apologized that people thought he was at a party? After all he said it was a "work event" and it was absolutely not outside the rules somehow. Which is odd since the rules weren't about "parties" but "gatherings" and a "work event" still sounds like a gathering to me.
