If you came with a starship able to interstelar travel or with a non earth biology science would love it! If you come with bad taped videos of some ppl opening a tretrapod with humanoid form, internal skeleton and organs like a subspecies of a mamal or reptillia, but no results, no diagnosis, no DNA, they will say is crap (and they will probably be right)

That's called "special pleading" debunkers are ok as long as they don't touch your special believe? I dont know about the dolphin but in science if you have 2 possible explanations, one natural and one not, you ussually go for the first. What is more likely, that you lost a sock or that a pixie stole it? What is more likely that a photo is fake or that some ET manage intergalactic travel to visit us but non space agency know about it? Once the aliens are proved i'll be the 1st to accept it.

Xairo Barna March 29, 2012 - 12:35 PM

I have a feeling that you have your mund made up. Good for you, i hope you don't behave like that with the rest of your everyday believes for ppl are gonnca scam you badly. I just thought this was a "science channel" (as is called) not a "science don't want to accept my ideas" crap. My mistake, i guess

Ok first of all scientists say "is very unlikely" not "impossible" and noone cares about what they think since you can probe them wrong and they would change their minds like they did with evolution, relativity, quantum theory, the status of Pluto, etc. They were ready to review all physics if was proven that neutrinos were faster than light (which as the DEBUNKERS proved was wrong). Science don't say there are no UFO, but says that all the evidence we have so far is weak and therefore unlikely

Basically some ppl say that they saw something and noone knew what it was therefore must be aliens. Is funny that every time i get in a discussion about 2012, Mayan/babilonian astronomy, astrology, alternative medicine, religion, or spirits they use the same fallacies: "special pleading", "argument from ignorance", "conspiranoias", etc. As i said before believe whatever you want, if it makes you happy :-)

Xairo Barna March 30, 2012 - 6:44 AM

Maybe, but still every single peace of knowledge about the universe, and every single technological improvement has been done by science. I also can't remember who said it, but a scientist said also once "SCIENCE: It works, bitches"

Xairo Barna March 30, 2012 - 6:57 AM

…and so say aswell all the 9/11conspirationists, Zeitgheist suporters, religious fundamentalists, homeopaths, Nessy fans, scientologists etc. All are convinced that there is enough evidence for their special case but science is too closed minded. Sience might be conservative (which is good) but never closed minded (as i already explained with examples) And since none of the world space agencies or atronomers takes UFO serious, i wont be the one pretending i know more that they do about space.

Xairo Barna March 30, 2012 - 7:07 AM

*sigh* ok, again (read slowly ok?): i didn't say "aliens havent visited earth" I said "IS UNLIKELY" and "I WON'T BELIEVE IT UNTIL THERE IS SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE". Is not the same. Do you believe in angels? There are ppl swearing they see them, talk to them, are helped by them. I can't prove there are no angels but what is more likely? That a winged superbeing (which we have never observed) chat with some humans or that they suffer allucinations or are lying (which we know happens?) same for UFOs.

Xairo Barna March 30, 2012 - 7:14 AM

Why not? that is called "argument from ignorance" Why ET are the best explanation if we don't even know if they exist? Is like if you see a crater for the first time and since you don't know about volcanos decided a dragon must have done it. Most of the "evidence" about UFO is fake, and some can be explained naturally. If there is a few that we still don't understand why cant we say "I DON'T KNOW" instead of making shit up?

Xairo Barna March 30, 2012 - 7:35 AM

You are not open minded, you are gullible, which is different. Once you swallow a story nothing anybody can say will change your mind because nobody cant disprove a negative (google russel's teapot), there is your "open-mindness". But just, for one second, think again: Why would all space agencies invest billions searching for microbial life in Mars, Europa or Titan if there would be a much more interesting ET intelligence here already? Isnt that evidence that THERE IS NO EVIDENCE of ET?

Xairo Barna March 30, 2012 - 8:25 PM

Well, then you are more educated than all astrobiologists, and world wide space agencies toguether (pity, all the money they throw away while getting cuts every year compared with the extrafunds they could gain to study real ET that are here already) i'm sorry i'm not so enlighted as you :-p (i told you before, any extraterrestrial object or biology would be proof enough if you can demonstrate it by its composition or manufacture) After all you can know if a simple rock came from earth or not.

Xairo Barna March 30, 2012 - 8:33 PM

Yes it does, is ppl believing stuff without evidence. You all use the same excuses, the same tactics, the same fallacies… you only have to change the thing you defend and the arguments are the same. And for the last time science DOES NOT demand human superiority, the scientific community is pretty sure there is probably ET life somewere and guesses therw could be intelligent life (more advance than we are) thats the whole point of NASA's SETI program. Main stream science is the only science.

Xairo Barna April 8, 2012 - 10:52 AM

Am i? When you study science in the school do you have "mainstream science" and "anternative sciences"? no. Physics, astronomy, biology, medicine, geology, engineery, … are based in science (the "mainstream" one)
Science is not a dogma or a phylosophy, is a self-correcting, empirical process of systematic observation, measurement, and experiment to understand the universe.

Xairo Barna April 8, 2012 - 3:58 PM

Oooh, if you say so it must be true then! Now i'm convinced :-)

Xairo Barna April 8, 2012 - 10:47 PM

Can't say. You didn't say much apart of calling me "blind" for my afirmation that "mainstream" science is the only science.

Xairo Barna April 9, 2012 - 11:00 PM

Am i stuck in my "beliefs"? On the contrary, I have a LACK OF beliefs.
You believe in UFOs like others believe in angels, psychics, etc. I have a LACK OF belief in anything not proven scientifically. The day that happens i'm the first to change my opinion (as i did with Pluto being a planet, or that dinosaurus are closer related to birds than lizards) unlike you that nothing will change your opinion since there is no way to disprove a negative (google Russel's Teapot)

Xairo Barna April 10, 2012 - 3:52 AM

Why am i pretentious? (i guess i'm anoying just because i disagree with you). I could call you pretentious since you seem to know more about UFO than all worldwide space agencies that can detect novas from other glaxies, send probes to other planets… For you "angels" are mumbo-jumbo but some ppl claim they are real and talk to them. I have the same evidence for aliens visiting earth as for aliens therefore i don't believe in neither (which doesn't meant that i claim to know they dont exist)

Xairo Barna April 10, 2012 - 3:54 AM

i meant "i have the same evidence for aliens visiting earth as for angels" sorry for the typo

Nasa comes up with some pretty generic stories . Gets repetitive.
