Most Detailed Map of the Brain Ever!

by Moin Uddin Ahmed Tipu

Scientists are getting a better than ever look inside the human brain. Sure they’ve had fMRI’s for a while and they’re great, but it’s nothing when compared to what’s coming out of Europe’s Big Brain Project. Anthony shows us this unprecedented peek inside the human head.

YES. That's the best part! Not only did they not patent it and secret it away, they weren't FORCED to by the EHBP. That's some awesome work, right there. -Anthony

Good job Europe! Show the world how its done! Give the world a map and let the japanese create the Virtual Reality machine. Next hand a couple devkits to the Koreans so they can make some crazy ass MMORPG and then let this little black american kid buy it in the store!

Sock Outlet June 27, 2013 - 12:17 PM

Dnews…is it just now that they thought of slicing up a persons brain like that?? why didn't they do it before??? What if they do it to a couple more brains could that help complete the map or just show similar results? wow..what if they recreate a copy of that brain…recreating the person that died e__e oh man I can't wait until we find out what consciousness is!

I think genes and the brain should be linked together in order to fully understand cuz genes make us who we are and what our brain is and are also responsible for accidental slip ups when making a baby. Then the brain is the thing that controls every mobing part and emotion. Maybe study how he brain is made with dna? Or have they already done that. Or I'm just talking gibberish

Obieden1 June 28, 2013 - 7:53 AM

we need to protect our bodys from monsanto and gmo and big pharma , who are now mixing human dna in all gmos

Scanning the brain will tell you nothing of how cognition works!!!
You guys are searching in the wrong area! (but then i guess the underground scientists have to keep sending the rest of the planet of course) …gotta keep the population dumb!

Ok so if im corresponding "brains" with progressive states of consciousness and "genes" with levels of instinct, its a battle of human condition vs animal nature? So, we have found that the human condition is adaptable because, obviously, that's why we are the way we are right now. However, just because its adaptable doesn't necessarily mean that its the best solution to the problem. What is to say that animal nature cannot be so useful as to benefit us equally as much when used side by side with our human condition….So your playing a game of basketball and your being pressured by the opposing team's defense. Things begin to move quickly as you drive towards the hoop. At this point, if not already, your probably in the "zone", as athletes among others call it. Being in the zone seemingly resembles the fight or flight response and in this case its fight as you drive towards the hoop against your opponent. In getting some unexpected space, you take a shot in the heat of the moment as if without even thinking about it, and it swooshes. So, the animal nature still left in our genes inducing the fight response is a great help to our success in this case. In recognizing that our animal nature can improve success rate, and dramatically it seems at times, we now have the ability to realize we can implement it further. If we look at animals other than humans we see that they generally have exemplary instincts because those are what make them work properly. Thinking of the brain in terms of a processing machine, instincts in animals seem to be pretty accurate, for example, birds fly south and only alike species mate with each other. When its comes to humans we seem to be more precise in general, meaning we like a specific definition or reason to explain phenomena and tend to focus on these definitions and reasons for guidance to success. This is adaptable nonetheless, but incorporating a greater accuracy can dramatically change success rate. What I am getting at is it is not a game of this vs that, its an effort of collaboration that brings greater fortune.
