All the feelings are controlled by the brain which sending signal to the nervous system. Such as the fear, nervous. Athletes already use to meditation to relieve the nervous and stimulate their potential before the games. Just by meditate the image of your winning the game. But meditation itself is a skill which needs practicing.

I have really bad anxiety and when i started meditating my anxiety started to get better, but i stopped for whatever reason and my anxiety is as bad as ever now. I want to start meditating again but i can never be bothered to do it.

Meditation is bliss consciousness. If done correctly with integral yoga called pranayama its benefits become double. It gets you out of animal state you currently are in where u eat and reproduce.lower chakras. When u can get that energy up the spine with intention and attention then miracles happen. If someone needs help let me know.
