Love Hormone Gives You Fear & Anxiety

by Moin Uddin Ahmed Tipu

Oxytocin (aka the Love Hormone) is supposed to make you feel all warm and cuddly. But according to new research, it’s also to blame for much deeper and darker feelings. Laci explains this two-faced beast.

The Love Hormone is Two-Faced

“It turns out the love hormone oxytocin is two-faced. Oxytocin has long been known as the warm, fuzzy hormone that promotes feelings of love, social bonding and well-being. It’s even being tested as an anti-anxiety drug. But new Northwestern Medicine® research shows oxytocin also can cause emotional pain, an entirely new, darker identity for the hormone.”

I think bonding needs extreme emotions so you dont forget that easy the moment but if you did it wrong ouch … selfsteem to the ground … personally i tried my best and if they like it good if they dont well i keep trying with others period… cold with cold warm with warm …

is that where love anxiety comes from

Nonametral August 1, 2013 - 11:33 AM

OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD!!!!!!!! This explains why I get anxiety when I'm in a relationship! I'd always thought of it as 'having more to lose'. Goddamit

mdbee5 August 1, 2013 - 12:20 PM

This new drug is interesting, if you were to meet someone for the first time and have a nice conversation. Let's say over sometime you two grow close and things become intimate; could you give that someone the hormone before you have sex and make them fall in love with you? Or at least have a better chance of it happening? Weird, but maybe.

Barak Obermer August 1, 2013 - 10:59 PM

This explains alot for everyone here…

Simon Tygesen August 2, 2013 - 12:50 AM

It is not a new drug… it is a stimuli that your brain produces when we hug… watch the video again 0:15

Simon Tygesen August 2, 2013 - 12:55 AM

The solution to this trouble with the release or supplement of Oxytocin, I believe is sounding cliche but is simple and apply to everything really: "balance"… not to little and to much.

Explains why I have a chronic fear of answering questions in class… in grade 2 I made a grammatical mistake on the chalkboard in front of the class and everyone laughed!! Stupid Oxytocin !

It'll be cool if you could take little pieces of emotions out of your brain.

locao51 August 6, 2013 - 10:58 PM

does that mean if one orgasms 4 times a day in 6 hours to 6 hours one will fear all ones life and feel anxiety all ones life?

oneofthenine August 10, 2013 - 9:18 AM

i understand the whole anxiety meds part. i am on a medication that is supposed to make me less anxious and jumpy, but when we were in seattle at pike market (sp?) i literally had trouble breathing. there were so many people and im normally not too claustrophobic around big crowds.

Savior G August 14, 2013 - 12:18 AM

Are you Amish or something? Or are you jelly that laci is hotter than your girl?

Angela Wang August 14, 2013 - 3:10 AM

Keep in mind that those mice had EXTRA oxytocin receptors, so MORE than the normal amount present.

matthew miller August 14, 2013 - 6:45 AM

Don't be a pig. Seriously have a little respect.

irio333 August 25, 2013 - 11:58 AM

you have low standards if you think laci is hot

irio333 August 26, 2013 - 3:45 AM

bro, just look at her, she is overweight and her face looks disgusting

Savior G August 26, 2013 - 5:38 AM

First off, she has curves. Your little 13 year old brain can't comprehend actual beauty, but fake, media inserted beauty. While she isn't the most beautiful woman in the world, she most definitely doesn't have a disgusting face, and isn't overweight. My girlfriend said she would go straight lezbo for Laci. Good luck with your future plastic anorexic girlfriends, if you can even get one with the extreme shallowness resonating from your ugly ass face.

irio333 August 26, 2013 - 6:28 AM

i dont see any curves, bro. all i see is a disgusting blob of fat.

Savior G August 26, 2013 - 9:03 PM

Whatever, like I said, you are blind.

Caymen Landry November 16, 2013 - 12:08 AM

Maybe bc the mice who had the less oxytocin cared less which in turn gave them less anxiety. The ones who had more oxytocin had more of an emotional association with that anxiety situation so it amplified the effects.

jesballs March 14, 2014 - 4:59 AM

She's a hottie!

bmcg8888 May 8, 2014 - 5:00 AM

I love her

420protoman May 10, 2014 - 10:01 PM

anti depressants make ppl not be able to have normal levels of this hormone.
so in the long run. Anti depressants actually make you more depressed… thats why you see kids on these prescription drugs doing insane things

Brian Delacruz August 7, 2014 - 9:11 AM

Because she is hot

Marky Holbrook July 4, 2015 - 3:20 AM

heheh, that girls always ha a funny look on her face 90% of the time, when you pause the video. I bet people capture alot of bad photo' of her.

JoshDayTV August 27, 2015 - 10:17 AM

It's survival. The mice with oxytocin would be more likely to survive the other aggressive mice. But maybe more stress on there bodies in other ways.

Chunen Tran February 20, 2016 - 1:32 AM

That's not true. Fear is caused mostly by Cortisol.

Michael Pearson April 28, 2016 - 12:41 AM

Oxytocin receptors = oxytocin? Feeling oxytocin more often should have the same effect as having fewer receptors, right? Also are mice as good at regulating their fear response as humans? Was it irrational for the mice to be afraid anyway?

Lastrevio August 18, 2016 - 1:57 AM

Chickasaw 963 February 15, 2018 - 4:13 AM

You seem to think that people should tolerate aggressive bullies. Oxytocin or not it's never a bad idea to keep aggression out of your life, in less you are actively defending it. Here's a experiment, take the aggressive mice give them a free More oxytocin receptors, see if this relieves all the mice from the cortisol effects that are unhealthy for living happy, or violent aggressive mice.

Dr. Phil June 16, 2018 - 1:08 PM

Sounds like the mice without the oxytocin were so retarded they forgot the traumatic experience that just occurred.

Angela's Crazy Life 2018 November 28, 2018 - 7:33 PM

I love my boyfriend so much. every week I see him. but when it time for me to go home. I get that feel I don't wanna leave. I feel scared leaving him. I love him so much. yes I have very bad anxiety problems. I get panic attack often. I don't like being alone. my fear is that someone leave me. and am having that right now.
