I just realized: it would have been cool if a character in the Highlander movies/tv show had a large axe instead of a sword.

Thats how the replica is made. How were the real medieval axes made or we have no idea so we just fudge/forge it?

Swanky MacBeth September 7, 2020 - 8:11 AM

Like 90% of the axes they showed in the beginning would never work in an actual battlefield, they should’ve called this video “prop axes” instead of “medieval battleaxes”

GUARD SHACK September 7, 2020 - 8:44 AM

Movie sets use plastic axes spray painted to look metal. way cheaper and safer.

Medieval axes made with medieval machinery.

Julia Naylor September 7, 2020 - 11:40 AM

Two English kings Harold and Richard the Third, were hacked to death on the battlefield, so axes may have been involved. Also Charles the First was the victim of an axe, as was his grandmother Mary Queen of Scots. Not a weapon to be taken lightly, in fact during the Wars of the Roses many people died in battle from both axe, mace and sword wounds, and the battles of that war were bloodier, than those in the later English Civil War.

Eric Bolduc September 7, 2020 - 1:42 PM

How its made "medieval axe"
Uses 72 strips of varying composition steel*
Uses power hammer*
Uses chop saw*
Uses plasma cutter*
Cuts groove in oak handle*
Lol 1 of these sounds true to the title of video.

If you're not going to make a weapon to kill don't try grabbing for it when you have nothing left to defend yourself with.
