@DanioOoX Remember from high school "can't create or destroy energy, only transfer". when you pick up something you're transferring your energy to that object. here it defy that logic.
@sarkerm2 no it doesnt. it defys newtons laws of fluid mechanics. not some energy law. the energy in the rod is being transferred to the fluid blob in the form of heat.
@sarkerm2 if you use a super accurate and super sensitive thermometer you would notice that the temp would have gone a little.
we can say it is "sort of defying what you would normally expect" in "certain" situations, yes

Why do I feel foolish listening to this logic? A determinant is the pressure exerted from the flask walls to the center of the drill. Water will travel up the drill if you fail to overcome the coefficient of friction between the drill surface and water.
