French scientists: Second infection wave 'highly likely' in autumn or winter

Top scientists in France say that a second wave of COVID-19 infections is around the corner — and “highly likely” to sweep across the country in the autumn or winter.
In a statement to the Health Ministry, France’s scientific committee said that if people fail to respect social distancing rules — it could not rule out a return of the epidemic before the end of summer.
France is on the growing list of European countries dealing with an uptick in coronavirus cases over the holiday season.
Restrictions have been strengthened to limit the spread of the virus — including mandatory airport testing for some travelers and tougher facemask rules.
