Frank Lampard set to be sacked: what went wrong at Chelsea

by News Update

Frank Lampard’s tenure as Chelsea manager is set to end, with Thomas Tuchel being lined up to replace him. The Englishman has had a successive run of poor games. The 42-year-old was brought back to the club that he served for well over a decade. During his first season in charge he did well; developing some of Chelsea’s young players, reacting an FA Cup final and secured Champions League football. The former midfielder was also restricted due to the club’s transfer ban. However, in season two the expectations changed. The Guardian’s Jacob Steinberg takes a look at what seemingly went wrong for Lampard at Chelsea

aby modayil January 25, 2021 - 4:36 PM

He will be a great manager but he needs to build himself by managing average teams and once he gains experience he can coach the best teams.

Chelsea was a step too big too quick.

Yes he took the job too soon. He did great managing a huge club considering he had virtually no managerial experience. I saw him more like a caretaker manager who was given the position because of his great service to the club.

Biggest club in England need the best managers. But Lampard is a legend for the club.

Feel for lamps. Wish he can pick himself up with a new club soon and make a comeback. I don't think he was far off based on what he did last season. Buying a bunch of talents is like taking a step back just to get some chemistry. Shouldn't be hard on him

Ole’s succes should have given Frank time. But he doesn’t fit in with the Oil club policy of buying trophies.
