Donald Trump has confirmed that his 14-year-old son Barron tested positive for coronavirus but insisted he recovered very quickly.
Speaking at a rally in Des Moines in Iowa, he said: “He had it for such a short period of time, I don’t even think he knew that he had it.”
The president used the example to prove his frequent argument that children have less serious cases of coronavirus and should be back in school.
“Barron is just fine,” Mr Trump added. “It happens. People have it and it goes. Get the kids back to school. We’ve got to get the kids back to school.”
Earlier on Wednesday, First Lady Melania Trump revealed Barron had tested positive for coronavirus not long after his parents, but had no symptoms.
