@puffrooster I'm amazed both at your expectation that other life would evolve entirely differently than life on earth, and also that you think you're brain, you're human brain, has the capacity to think outside it's physical limitations. An alien brain means alien thoughts.
@Palkia02365 You think alien species never had a similar setting? Earth is the only planet I know that has life on it so my assumption of life on other planets is that it would be similar to ours. Human history has it's dark moments, but I wouldn't doubt other sapient life having similar moments.

Think about the numbers you just put out. Common is in reference to a total. Perhaps I was wrong in assuming your ideas were off, just your understanding of english and for that I am sorry. Also, the term candidate needs to be in there somewhere because the speculation of other earth-like planets (in size and relation to it's star's hospitipal zone) is based on rudementary detections of gasses. If you were as smart as you thought you were, we would not be having this conversation.
So you're saying humans are undoubtably the last and slowest sapient life to develop? There is no way to tell any of that and that's what I was trying to get you to see. Think before you speak – a little advice that will take you a long way.
If you think the universe has an inherent purpose then you are, in fact, a very subjective observer. There is no evidence to indicate in any way, shape, or form that the universe has purpose or even a need for purpose. That is an invention of the human mind.
Also, the bank doesn't cash half baked incongruent ideas. Peace and love? Have you looked outside? EVER?

You're presenting facts without evidence to support them. That's not logic. What is logical is a speculative theory based on our own truths (That we are carbon based, reproduce physically, develop tools, etc.) that we can form around what we belive about the universe.
Your comment suggests that you KNOW other species exist, that you KNOW they communicate with each other, that you KNOW none of them have a desire to contact us, and that you KNOW an alien race has a concept of morality. Illogical.

The fact that you think presenting ideas without evidence is logical leads me to believe that you don't fully understand the scientific method. I'm entirely willing to explain it you if you would like. But, I digress.

Unless you have seen it with your own eyes or proven it through sound reasoning you can't say that there is, without a doubt, other life. I question whether or not I exist because even that is impossible to prove. You live on the faith that what you experience is true reality. Beyond that, you live on faith that information presented to you through science is true. Further down the rabbit hole, you have faith that what you know (fact) is unchanging. Do you see?

First off, no, that would only prove that I (my conciousness) can experience pain, and that would only prove it me. Second, you entirely missed the point of that. It was a philisophical anology. Finally, the "those" you were refering to are called rational people. People who understand the relationship from their minds to their bodies to the universe around them.

If we were discovered they would study us…We would be a new life form which was previously unknown to them…If an entomologist walks past an ant hill that is of a known species it will be disregarded,but if the species is unknown to science then they will be studied regardless of how they treat each other and their planet,all the more reason to study them.
