Devastating earthquake kills more than 1,000 people in Afghanistan – BBC News

by Moin Uddin Ahmed Tipu

A powerful earthquake has killed at least 1,000 people and injured 1,500 in eastern Afghanistan.

The country’s Taliban government appealed for international help for the rescue effort in the province of Paktika.

Hundreds of houses were destroyed. It is the deadliest earthquake to strike Afghanistan in two decades and a major challenge for the Taliban, the Islamist movement which regained power last year after the Western-backed government collapsed.

The earthquake struck about 44km from the city of Khost and tremors were felt as far away as Pakistan and India.

Huw Edwards presents BBC News at Ten reporting by Secunder Kermani in Afghanistan and world affairs correspondent Caroline Hawley.

I am at a loss of words for a country that has endured so much. Respect to those Afghans prepared to help their fellow people, I hope the international community can step up and provide support.

instead of investing all your energy in forcing people to believe in an ideology…. invest in educating your people so they can become engineers and build infrastructure that could easily withstand a 6.1 earthquake….

Jesus Christ died for your sins, repent and get saved, we are living in the end times! Matthew 24 KJV ''6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows''. Do take heed people!!

My prayers and love to everyone lost or suffering ๐Ÿ™. But I have to say one thing. As in Christian religion GOD never sleep. I think in Afghanistan Allah never sleeps too. So after all what happened people literally fall from the top of a plane and the regime what is on that country. And people have to leave their country Houses schools friends and everything what they worked for a whole life forced to fly away from their land.this it like Allah saying guys not good what's happened need to look after your own people ๐Ÿ™

Afghans can save their country by quitting Islam
The evil ideology holds them back from developing and decent human rights

2606 people died in the World Trade Center attacks. What did the Afghans do afterwards? They cheered on the streets.
Amazing how fast people forget.

Just give the taliban some wealth let them Rob shoulders with the scummy politicians of the world and soon enough they will start bending to International pressures of politics when large Investments are made in their country and they like the power of having a national reputation and the love of the people they will relax laws and traditions just look what America did with Saudi Arabia, still bad but massive difference of quality of life compared to the afghans.
