Keir Starmer “has the right stuff” to become Prime Minister after the “bravery” he has shown in suspending predecessor Jeremy Corbyn from the Labour Party, according to former Labour MP Tom Harris.
Mr Corbyn was punished after he said concerns about anti-Semitism in Labour had been “dramatically overstated for political reasons” – a comment he refused to retract.
Mr Harris, a Telegraph columnist, said Mr Corbyn’s comments were “devoid of any humility”.
Sir Keir said the findings of an excoriating new report by the Equalities and Human Rights Commission mark a “day of shame” for the party and promised to implement its findings in full.
