Catch It Keep It – Flaming Guitar – Friday, Aug. 7 at 10 PM

by Moin Uddin Ahmed Tipu

The flagship guitar of rock-n-roll, a Gibson Les Paul, is going to be torched by 100 pounds of thermite in just 48 hours unless this team of challengers can devise a way to save it. If they can catch it, they can keep it!

this is a pretty dull show

This is dumb!
Just what TV needs, more dippy pseudo science reality crap!
Does anyone remember when TV was entertaining?

Some people do find this entertaing.

Some people find pulling off fly's wings entertaining.
I just have a problem with make believe science shows.
They don't seem to have any point, it's really not science or engineering, it's just mindless.
Ok, so I'm a nerd or geek or whatever, but I find the level of ingenuity in a show like "Junk Yard Wars" way more entertaining.
Letting people loose in a scrapyard to build hovercraft, boats, vehicles or aircraft from scrap is way more fun to watch.
This just seems kinda pointless.

Yay! that racist prick's account has been cancelled!
What would a "person" be thinking to choose a username like that?

are you kidding? half of everything in Junk yard wars was planted so the teams would find it. granted, some eps were good (hovercraft) but they just happen to come across things that would never ever be found in a junk yard. (rocket engines, antique working steam engines, ect.)

The first season was the best!
And the hovercraft epp was cool, the guy making a prop out of a fencepost, with a chainsaw and belt sander!
The other epp that I really like was the off road buggy, taking what was left of a 1000cc bike and kinda grafting the engine on sideways, the other team shoehorned a V6 Oldsmobile engine into the back of a VW Beatle.
I never watched more than the first season, Discovery channel turned to shit after the first 18 months I had Foxtel.
To much like TV, F.ADDS!

ummm did I miss something that is a strat not a Les Paul

Jonny Lollis September 27, 2009 - 1:33 PM

Too bad thats a strat and not a les paul

JNF December 3, 2015 - 8:53 AM

The test they show here is a strat being burned. Fender strats use a different finish and are made from different wood than les pauls are. Their test is useless. Anyone know how they got around the 100 lbs of thermite? That would burn through just about any container I can think of.
