Can Gen Z break free from social media addiction? – BBC News

by Moin Uddin Ahmed Tipu

Social media apps, designed to be addictive, are playing an increasingly large role in the lives of young people (or ‘Gen Z’).

Rikki Schlott created an Instagram account when she was 11. She now says she feels the app – and the pressure to post perfection – stole parts of her childhood.

As Facebook comes under fire for the impact its apps can have on teens, experts explain how algorithms have made social media the new “drug of choice”.

📰| More Than 300 Individuals of the Paٌgan Rٌafidah Kiٌlled and Woٌunded in an Isٌtishhٌadi Operation Inside a Temple of Theirs in Kunduz

With success from Allah, one of the knights of shٌahdah, brother Muhammad al-Uyghuri, may Allah aٌccept him, launched towards a central temple of the pٌagan Rٌafidah in Kunduz city. He deٌtonated his expٌlosive vٌest aٌmid the Rafٌidah gathering inside the temple, kiٌlling and woٌunding more than 300 of them and causing material loٌsses to their temple, and all praise is due to Allah.

I think someone should do a study on me, I don't do any social media unless you count YouTube. I saw the warning signs early where work colleagues would sit in close proximity to each other yet would only interact with their phones, social media ?, I don't think so.

The issues relating to social media obviously need to be regulated.
Mental health existed long before social media apps.
The experts equate this to tobacco, drugs or alcohol. If so, then at some point you need to take responsibility and STOP using it.

I guess TV, radio, magazines and newspapers never cared if you stayed with them for longer time to see/hear ads, right?

What you call "addiction" is just you showing your preference of what you like and enjoy spending your time on. Or you are a fool.

And the nonsense that ALL girls/women agree with this assessment is proof this is just an agenda-driven attack against competing entertainment that the BBC other mainstream media bring out when they traffic in nothing more than negative, sensationalist "news."

When you consider these hand held phones are causing bee deaths and brain cancer and cancer on any part of the body where they are stored, that should be enough to closet them.

Am I the only person who simply doesn't give a f%uk about what influencers have to say or sell, or what people think about me with regards to photos or witty updates? Sure social media is great to stay connected in ways impossible in the past. but I'm not having anyone judge me.
