What is the energy usage of such a system.
Compared to outside gardening, I would think this system would consume quite a lot of energy

WAAAAAANNNTTT. Will give them a year or 2 but really love the concept of hydroponics and being able to grow what I eat even if I don’t have a garden or ideal weather conditions

Allison Gryski June 15, 2021 - 2:25 AM

This seems like a horribly unsustainable approach to gardening: having to buy their specially packaged seed pods, not making use of any natural light or rain water collection, largely just opting out of interacting with your natural environment and seasons. Of course the lettuce grown indoors does better than outside in a sunny, hot climate, but I bet the tomatoes, peppers, and squash do better outdoors in that same environment. I suppose it's better than nothing if you live in a place with zero outdoor space and overshadowed windows, but it's still a very industrialized approach to a pursuit that should be connecting you with nature.
