Sure, multiple marathoners have more scarred heart tissue than controls.. But what does that really mean? Studies of elite endurance athletes show longer lifespans than both sedentary individuals and elite strength athletes.

D news is really running out of ideas if it's trying to convince people exercise is bad for them…

TA7 1998 May 9, 2016 - 4:21 AM

I'm a young guy and I recently started drinking beer and I noticed that I get random erections from it it's fucking weird any veteran drinkers have an opinion as to why?

Zach Estell May 21, 2016 - 2:47 AM

I like to drink lots of beer before and after a run just to be sure

Brad Eddy June 1, 2016 - 6:52 AM

sooo.. when you're jogging in a gym.. you're breathing in other peoples exhaled air along with their body odor that they are giving off?and jogging in the city isn't safe because you're breathing in even more dangerous toxins??soo.. when a fat person wants to lose weight, he/she would be better off getting a treadmill of his/her own in the house…but those are expensive.. hopefully he/she has a fingerhut account to pay monthly on a treadmill.. or whichever other site they can order a treadmill to pay monthly on..

I like DNews. At it best, its introduce me to subjects which I can then find more about. But this one is an example of one which is excessively superficial and misleading. It is miisrepresentative to compare an exercise to a consumable. Jogging can be compared to the effects of other activities such as cycling or a sedentary lifestyle. Beer can be compared to other drinks such as wine or soda.

I drink a beer every day. Not the cheap watered down stuff. But real beer, usually extremely hoppy. I am not claiming to be in body building shape, however I am fit and when everyone around me is getting sick I'm the one who is good to go on 4 hours of sleep a night. I don't drink soda often. When people ask why I drink so much beer, I tell them it is healthier than soda. Coke can clean pennies, beer can't.
Also, the point he was making about running had to do with people in marathons. They have the average Joe body they need the fat to sustain. If you are going to run…. sprint. Compare a marathon runner to a sprinter and you will understand why.

Julio Cesar Rojo December 3, 2016 - 7:35 PM

What do you think you're breathing when you walk on the street? And when you walk you're excercicing too. You start saying something like runners are misrable, do you think your body will free endorphins while sitting on the couch and just drinking beer? Studies, studies and more studies. It's interesting to read them, but it's not good at all to take those so serious…something turns out to be false or true everyday, it seems, so I'd say you'd better stick to what you like as long as you enjoy it and combines working out and eating healthy, neither of those in excess, of course!.

This is misleading, you talked about people who run more than an hour everyday, but you haven't talked about sprints, calisthenics and moderate excercicing in general.

I do not consume alcoholic beverages, do you know of any non-alcoholic drink containing hops, maybe, near-beer has the health benefit  without the pesky DUI and hangover?

David Nasibyan January 8, 2017 - 3:55 AM

I jog all the time and I'm the opposite of miserable

yadig February 9, 2017 - 6:00 AM

Bicycle! Bicycling is pure pleasure, unless the chain comes off.

ezumach December 15, 2017 - 3:45 AM

So, something humans have done for 100 thousand years (running over long distances) is all of a sudden unhealthy? Yup, that makes perfect sense. Can we please stop listening to all these moronic attention seeking academics who continually publish drivel just because they have to (publish or perish). I run over 30 miles/week and I feel great, sleep well and have abs (I'm 34). I also drink beer, particularly stout and brown ale. If I didn't run I would be fat, have low testosterone (probably) and not have the spring in my step that I currently have. Running distance has given my life discipline and allowed me to meet lots of cool people. Also, if you don't want your body weight to reverberate throughout your body "STOP RUNNING ON YOUR HEELS"!!!

Irina Richter December 27, 2017 - 8:21 AM

TEAM RUNNING!!!!!! I'm not miserable LOL. I LOVE running but I never tried bear.

Arya Mehta February 4, 2018 - 4:54 PM

Consuming alcohol is healthy ! lol

steef4000000 March 28, 2018 - 5:40 AM

just do a bit of both or whatever makes you happy and hopefully healthy

santhosh kumar Rai June 10, 2018 - 3:52 AM

Rather than taking so much you can just say when you go out of hoke home for jogging you are more at risk than by sitting at home. You may be robbed shot at stabbed or hit by a car. So sitting at home is safe. Just sit at home and drink beer. .you will be safe. This is what this video means

Hue Lu June 14, 2018 - 12:01 AM

Drink more, it’s brought cancers in many countries already, literally and you know the other meaning, so yeah, I don’t like beers that much, good luck!
