Bacteria living on our skin can cause zits — gross. But Laci Green’s got news from a study that shows not all acne bacteria are evil! Some might even be helping us out.

“The bacteria that cause acne live on everyone’s skin, yet one in five people is lucky enough to develop only an occasional pimple over a lifetime.”
“Propionibacterium acnes Strain Populations in the Human Skin Microbiome Associated with Acne”
“We compared the skin microbiome at the strain level and genome level of Propionibacterium acnes, a dominant skin commensal, between 49 acne patients and 52 healthy individuals by sampling the pilosebaceous units on their noses.”
“Why Some People Get Zits and Others Don’t”
“In a boon for teenagers everywhere, a UCLA study conducted with researchers at Washington University in St. Louis and the Los Angeles Biomedical Research Institute has discovered that acne bacteria contain “bad” strains associated with pimples and “good” strains that may protect the skin.”

no acne yet for me
I get so annoyed at people who just have such clear skin.
Like, okay you can say "it's what's inside that counts" but if there was an exact clone of a person in every sense standing next to the original without acne and the original had acne, you'd rather approach the clone without acne…right?
Man I swear I have ONE acne. Every like 3 days it's on a different part of my face. Sometimes it's right above my eyebrows, sometimes it's beside my nose. But I never get acne on my face. It's usually my forehead and my nose area.
I am a 13 year old who has acne right now!!!
PLEASE do an update on this video. I need to know what the third strain of bacteria is and if there are any new products with it yet. Personally, acne is way more of an emotional ailment than a physical ailment. Either way it needs to be gone.
I don't think I ever had heavy acne, but finding one or two zits every once in a while has been normal for me since I was maybe 10. I agree, ones IN the nose or ear are terrible and seem to take forever to go away. The frequency is down from 6 years ago, but always the same locations -_-
i have been stuck with acne for like 3 years now
Damnit, i really need to find out how to block certain channels from showing up in my feed, "dnews" is fine but if i have to hear another word from this person's face i might lose my mind.
I've suffered from acne since puberty (I'm now almost 20).
The only thing that has really worked is a form of birth control pills that contain anti-androgens (and other hormones). I also use epiduo on my face, but the pills do most of the work by balancing my hormonal levels (which is the main reason I get it). I still have some issues, but it's a lot better!
If you suffer a lot from your acne, I advice you to see a doctor. There are good creams they can prescribe, and if that doesn't work and it's really bad there are some other solutions available.
It really irritates me when people say that you just have to eat better, exercise/sleep more or maybe clean your face better. In some instances some of this may have a slight effect, but in most (severe) cases the problem is probably more linked to genetics and hormones than your diet. There's really not much you can do about it.
Acne is a very sensitive topic and something that can really affect your quality of life (it's more than just an inconvenience for a lot of people). So think one more time before you criticize someone's zits, or give some "helpful advice" to someone that has probably already tried it all.
Started getting acne when I was about 10 and I'm almost 30 now; without fail, I get a few zits every time I have my period. I've tried many things and have seen multiple doctors & dermatologists over the last 18+ years, but nothing has made a noticeable difference :(
i dont think i ever got acne
Why does she move like that?
It's awkward to watch. Mainly like the way she positions her mouth when she talks and stuff.
I am 23 and still have acne unfortunately AND IT IS FRUSTRATING!!! I tis a confidence downer, it makes me feel unattractive even though I sometimes get delightfully proven wrong
I believe the question is: Have I ever NOT had acne?
Not related to acne but in general – Do you need to moisturise your skin? If so, how often and when? Or is it just a sham?
lol they censored out her clevage, the area is a little blury.

I had an acne pimple on my nose once and I let it take it's course. Now there is a fucking scar there and my nose is slightly wonky due to it.
It probably didn't help that I probably kept scratching at it…..fml.
How about buying probiotic and apply it on skin . I know it may not have that strain of the bacteria . But I don't have any thing to lose 😺
It's 2016. Where it at though?
