13 Supreme Court Justices?

by News Update

President Joe Biden’s commission to study the Supreme Court has some people thinking there could be fast action on expanding the court. In this latest episode of The Point, CNN’s Chris Cillizza explains the many obstacles in the way for the court to be expanded anytime soon, if at all.

Barring the supreme court from hearing arguments against federal statutes would probably be more important imo.

Wow I never thought I'd agree with you on anything but here we are.
It pisses me off when Biden does patronizing bs like this dumb commission just to playcate progressives. It's insulting. Now he's listening to ghouls like Manchin and his buddies from the chamber of commerce over his base. The dems and Biden can get fucced. He's broken almost every campaign promise her made so far.

There is no way they should change the court. If they expand it turns Supreme Court into a Political part of Government. It is like being down at Half Time by 2 TD's and Lobbing for 3 TD's to start the 2nd half..

In 2005, Biden called court packing a 'power grab' and suggested FDR was 'corrupted by power' for wanting to do so. He praised the 'courage' of those who stood up against court packing. Now, Biden is all for packing the court.

I hope that a better argument is found than "we want more of us than of them". If there's a reform to undertake it should be on something other than just the number. For example having 99 (yeah, I just said NO to increasing the number!) justices in 11 parallel supreme courts of 9 justices each would have the benefit of handling many more cases. Or have only 8 courts (that's 72 out of 99 justices) but randomly assign them to new cases. Another popular idea is having term limits.

Expanding the number of justices would be fine.. but the process of choosing the Justices needs to be over hauled .. It should not depend solely on which party has the majority.

General Events Not a war only, but a world-wide revolution as well. Not a two-camp war, but a multi-sided war. Not simply a man-made holocaust, but also a God-sent chastisement, accompanied by cosmic disturbances. These unrepentant ones will be killed by the comet, which according to the prophecies will follow the last terrible three days of WWIII with three more days of darkness and death 3 days of darkness .A comet’s sudden appearance, its universally frightening, attention-getting, totally humbling effects get the job done as nothing else could. To punish by horrifying death is God’s last resort in eliciting final repentance. For some it is only then that He is revered for His Justice, such that His Mercy is sought. The Great Peace that follows is predicated on the certainty that God saves a remnant

Funny how you want to talk about adding more supreme court justices… but refuse to post a single video concerning Maxine Waters.

Why should anyone trust the Democrats and their desire to have more control over the Supreme Court when Democrat people in power are demanding for guilty verdicts before a trial is over, or else…? Are we serious here… how do more people not see this WILDLY out of control use of powers to negatively inflict and control citizens? Wow. Stop being dumb blind sheep being led around by CNN and their own self-interests, people. Stop. They don't care about you at all… which is evident by hiding news from you.

We need to expand to 3 senators in every state,,,, no that sound as stupid as listening to a commission full of partisans.

V April 20, 2021 - 9:20 PM

Republicans won that means we can mostly just expect the court to favor corporations over individuals. They will also throw a bone to Bible thumpers and chip away at LGBT rights and abortion. That’s about the only difference.

Super dry humor

Ian Reed April 20, 2021 - 9:20 PM

We need term limits, not expansion!

Stacking the deck, cheating, rubber stamp court.

Hitler got rid of the judges appointed when Germany was a republic, put his own Nazi judges in power.

webmediafactors4 April 20, 2021 - 9:21 PM

I think they should just limit the number of judges any party can have. Whatever that ratio is should prevent any one party from outweighing he scale. Its fairly obvious that some point, we won't be able to trust judges to be bi-partisan either. Once every branch of government is allowed to deadlock along party lines, no matter the scale of the numbers, the government will cease to function.
